The Mormaii Story: Born in Brazil, Built for Movement

The Mormaii Story Born in Brazil Built for Movement

In the early 70s, Marco Aurélio Raymundo — known as Morongo — moved to Garopaba, in South Brazil, bringing with him not only his medical career, but also his deep love for surfing. Life by the ocean was intentional — a choice to be closer to nature, to the waves, and to a way of living that made sense to him. But winter surfing was intense. The water was freezing, and traditional gear didn’t offer enough protection. Driven by need and curiosity, he began sewing his own neoprene wetsuits by hand — not to sell, but to surf. Word spread. Soon, friends and local surfers were knocking on his door, asking: “Can you make one for me too?”

That moment sparked something greater. What started as a personal solution evolved into a movement — and that’s how Mormaii was born. Not out of a business plan, but out of purpose. From the start, the brand stood for authenticity, freedom, resilience, and innovation — values shaped by the waves and by people who live in motion. Over the years, Mormaii expanded far beyond wetsuits. Today, the brand supports over 200 athletes across multiple sports, reaches more than 15 countries, and creates over 6,000 licensed products — all made to move, breathe, and flow with you.

But no matter how far we go, we never lose sight of where we came from. Mormaii was built with heart, shaped by nature, and designed to carry a purpose — to move with meaning and to live a legacy.
