Mormaii celebrates two remarkable achievements on the international surfing stage. In Newport Beach, California, athletes Lucas Chumbo and Lucas Fink received top honors at the Big Wave Challenge, cementing the 2024/2025 season as an unforgettable year for Brazilian surfing.
Chumbo was crowned the season’s grand champion, taking the title of best big wave surfer. The recognition crowns a brilliant year for the big rider, who delivered historic performances at challenging spots around the world, including Ireland, Portugal, California, and Hawaii.
“It was a dream year, I wanted to thank my entire team for the support and for helping all of this happen,” declared Chumbo after the awards ceremony.
Meanwhile, Lucas Fink, a five-time skimboard world champion, shined in a new category and was named the winner of the best wave surfed with an alternative board award. The performance that secured the trophy happened in Hawaii, on a historic swell considered the largest ever recorded at the spot.
“Ever since I was a kid, I always dreamed of being a skimboard world champion, but I never imagined I would be recognized as a big wave surfer,” said Fink.
For Mormaii, being present in such monumental moments reinforces its genuine connection to the ocean and the history of Brazilian surfing: “It’s an immense joy to be alongside Chumbo and Fink in these other giant achievements, which not only elevate the sport but also inspire new generations of surfers and athletes worldwide,” highlights Anis Gloss, the brand’s head of marketing.
